Isnβt it insane how grown adults can be super petty and insecure of their work in offices?
This employee shares how a workstream owner at his office does everything to ignore his partner!
Check out the full story.
Department head got called out for being extremely insecure
So this happened last week and I got told about it from another colleague.
Thereβs a guy on our team who owns a particular workstream. Heβs supposed to deal directly with the business partner and is accountable for the outcome.
This is where it gets trickyβ¦
Except the business partner has developed a habit of completely bypassing him and going straight to the department head because the head insists on being involved with everything.
Need something? Goes to the department head.
Have a question? Department head.
Want something changed? Department head.
UH OHβ¦
Eventually the actual owner started finding out about things after the fact and would get called out for not building relationships or taking ownership.
How are you supposed to take ownership when the person youβre supposed to be working with keeps jumping over you, and your own boss keeps allowing it?
What made it worse was that the department head insisted on being involved in practically every meeting anyway, even if the meeting should be between associates or assistants.
Thatβs INSANE!
So the business partner had basically learned that the real point of contact was the department head, not the person who actually owned the work.
It became almost insulting.
The stream owner basically then started treating the partner in a non-chalant way and told them to just ask the head if he wants anything done because he wonβt do it otherwise.
It helps that he is extremely great at what he does.
The management finally took notice!
Management eventually called the department head out on it and the head said his team doesnβt take ownership.
Management told him he looks extremely insecure and pathetic and that is probably why projects that should take a week or two to complete are taking this long.

The worst part is that nothing has really changed.
He still continues to do this. Some people seek importance and validation from office because they get none at home.
YIKES! That sounds pathetic!
Why wouldnβt he just follow the simple hierarchy?
