I can’t stop looking at this! At first glance, it appears like the sitting player (in the background) is moving from left to right on some kind of magic carpet. Or maybe it looks like the entire basketball court is moving and the player in the foreground is walking on a giant treadmill? What is happening?!? Let me attempt to explain (I will likely fail miserably):

The video ad board behind the sitting player, the one that says “Freaky Fresh * Freaky Fast”, is actually moving (from right to left). At the same time, the cameraman is panning (also from right to left) to keep the player (Miller #44) centered in the frame. The video board and cameraman are panning (from right to left) at the exact same speed, making the player who is sitting in front of the video board, appear to be magically sliding.

 

Hopefully that makes sense? I know I didn’t explain it well or succinctly, but it took me a long time to force my brain to see what was actually happening. One of those happy accidents that created a really interesting optical illusion!
