This Is Why Russia Still Owns a Small Piece of Germany
The piece of land known as Kaliningrad Oblast is a disconnected area from Russia that the country still owns.
It formerly belonged to the Germans and was known as Konigsberg until it was taken over by Soviet forces in 1945 during World War II. The Soviets continued to control the land after Germany split into two nations after World War II. Germany reunited in 1990 after the Soviet Union fell but the Kaliningrad Oblast remained under the power of the Russian Federation.
