Getting the runaround from customer service can be frustrating, but it’s always worse when it seems intentional.

So, imagine you called a company, only to be told to call a different number and then realize it’s the same person answering.

Would you be confused? Or would you be downright annoyed?

In the following story, one woman finds herself on the receiving end of some malicious compliance.

Here’s how it went down.

Being on the receiving end of MC

My mother needed to contact a company on some matter, so she looked up their number and gave them a call.

A lady answered, and after my mother explained her reason for calling, she was told to contact them at another number.

She dutifully called the updated number and began her explanation before pausing in realisation.

Here comes the shocker.

“Aren’t you the same person I just spoke to?”

“Yes,” replied Ms. MC. “But now you’re on the right number.”

Wow! The customer service rep probably figured she wouldn’t notice.

Let’s see how the folks over at Reddit weigh in on this situation.

This person had to do this exact thing to people, but it wasn’t because they were being rude.

She probably had her reasons.

While it does seem rude at first, there must’ve been a good reason for this behavior.
