Her Company Rolled Out A One-Sided Timekeeping Policy, So Now Employees All Clock Out At Exactly The Same Second

There’s a difference between having a roommate’s partner around occasionally and basically gaining an unofficial fourth tenant overnight.
One college student became increasingly frustrated with a new roommate whose boyfriend started hanging out so much in their shared apartment that he basically moved in.
He wasn’t friendly, never greeted her, and seemingly disappeared during the day before consistently returning each night to stay over.
Her other roommate seemed completely unbothered by the arrangement, which only made her feel more alone in noticing how strange the situation was.

roommates bf over almost every night – what should i do?
I’m in my third year of college and currently have two roommates. One of them was my roommate from freshman year, who we’ll call Amanda, and the other is one of her friends, who we’ll call Emily.
It was my first time rooming with Emily this year, and I thought she was very nice upon meeting her.
But Emily wasn’t fully truthful about her intentions.
The one thing she didn’t tell me prior to moving in is the extent to which her boyfriend would be over. He is over almost every single night. It’s getting really annoying.
She’s not a fan of Emily’s boyfriend at all.
He isn’t very friendly and never greets me even when entering my house. I asked Amanda about him because I really don’t know anything about him.
She told me he leaves during the day and goes out (I have no idea where), but without fail he will come back with Emily to stay the night.
This really bothers her for multiple reasons.
It’s not something that bothers Amanda, which is fine, but for me, I’m just annoyed having a man in the space who #1, is not likable, and #2 is not on our lease and doesn’t pay a dime of rent.
I want to have a conversation with Emily about it because I think it’s something I should address.
I just don’t know what I should say and whether it’s reasonable to ask him to help with rent, since he’s only here at night.
This situation really needs addressed sooner than later.
What did Reddit have to say?
Maybe it’s time Emily and her boyfriend find their own apartment.

Honesty is the best policy.

Maybe these renters should just sit back and let the landlord handle it.

This commenter shares their personal experience.

A guy who won’t say hello walking through your kitchen every single night is already a strange arrangement, and that’s before you even factor in the rent situation.
Emily never mentioned any of this before move-in, which is pretty shady when you really think about it. If she always intended for her boyfriend to join the lease, it would appear her silence here was quite strategic.
Having an open and honest conversation is the only viable path forward, even if it makes things tense between them.
This boyfriend has officially overstayed his welcome.
