A Cashier Stopped a Customer Walking Out with Unpaid Groceries—Until the Thief Threw a Juice Box and Got Free Food

It’s funny how some customers manage to make a bad impression before they even reach the register.
One cashier learned that during a busy shift when a father came through the line already arguing with his son.
From there, things only got worse as the man complained about waiting and tried to leave with food he hadn’t paid for.
But when the cashier asked him to swipe his card again for the extra items, he completely lost it.
He even threw a juice box at her before the manager stepped in and told the cashier to comp everything.
Read on to see how it all went down.
Scumbag of a parent, poor son, shocked cashier.
I work at Pepper Stove (not the real name, but close).
Today, we had a visiting manager. Also, today I was on cash, meaning demanding people. Oh, was I understating.
During our first peak for the PM shift, a trouble customer comes in. He is arguing with his son that the son, under no circumstances, will buy a drink and will drink a nasty diet tea.
It didn’t take long for the customer to turn his sights onto her.
He then berates me for making him wait ~3 seconds. He then also tries to sneak an extra guac out with him. No biggie, I figure it’s part of his bowl. I list it IN his bowl.
He then demands chips. I check his receipt. No chips.
OK. I asked him to reswipe his card to pay for chips and guac, and he goes ballistic.
“I pAiD fOr tHaT! *throws juice box* wHaT dO yOu mEaN?!”
The manager told her to let it go.
Now, I have had a somewhat rough upbringing, so I could have ended him, but I value being employed.
Also, because there was a visiting manager right next to me, I called my manager, who told me to comp, etc.
This ************ walks away like he swindled his way to a win. And he did. He also assaulted me, and I could do nothing.
I am still shocked that I was told to drop the matter by the visiting manager. People like that do not belong in Pepper Stove. Halp, what do?
Wow! It does seem like he got exactly what he wanted.
Let’s check out what the readers over at Reddit think about what this customer did.

Great question, because this was unclear.

She should definitely do this.

Some people are so uncouth!
This guy was way out of line for how he acted to both his son and the employee.
And perhaps the worst part is that this is the example he’s setting for the little boy.
Hopefully, the kid has a more positive role model at home and learns to ignore this kind of behavior as he gets older.
