It’s not every day you hear of a new castle being built, much less get to see inside this $12M modern architectural showstopper that overlooks the mountains of Mt. Evans.
Real estate video creator Enes Yilmazer serves as tour guide of the castle, inspired by the famous Biltmore Mansion in North Carolina, and designed locally by Boulder’s BVZ Architects. It has four stories built with limestone and all the features you’d expect from a bona fide castle, including a courtyard, pitched roofs, turrets, dormered windows, and rows of sculptured columns.
The outdoors come inside with multiple large windows that allow natural light to reflect off the marble flooring throughout. The entrance hall is one of many entries to an open loggia, a fancy name for “porch.” To the right of the entry is a giant great room with a glass wall facing the magnificent Rockies and a custom limestone fireplace. The kitchen also borrows from other famous structures with a self-supporting ceramic tile vault and arch system patented in 1892 by Spanish architect Rafael Guastavino.
