Children are naturally playful and sometimes unruly.

What would you do if a relative’s child was acting up in your home but the parents didn’t do anything to stop the behavior?

This woman’s nephew was acting pretty wild and messing things up in her house.

She told him to stop, but she’s wondering if that was a bad idea.

Read the full story below for all the details.

AITA for telling my nephew to behave in my house when his parents wouldn’t?

I (29F) have a nephew.

His name is “Zayn” (5M).

He is a great kid, but can be really unruly.

His parents—my brother and sister-in-law—don’t seem to discipline him much.

This woman noticed how unruly Zayn was during dinner.

Recently, they came over to my house for dinner.

Zayn was running around and jumping on my couch with his shoes on.

He was also messing with things on my shelves, and even knocked over a drink.

His parents never told him to stop.

She told him to stop running.

After he nearly broke a decorative piece, I told him this:

“Zayn, please stop running and be careful with things in my house.”

He got quiet and sat down.

But her sister-in-law thinks she overstepped.

But my sister-in-law got offended.

I feel like I had every right to set rules in my own home.

But now, she is acting like I overstepped.

AITA for telling my nephew to behave when his parents wouldn’t?

It doesn’t seem like she’s out of line. Her house, her rules.
