Everyone has seen that one kid who’s glued to an iPad and tuning out the entire world.

But problems start when the adults responsible refuse to admit it’s an issue.

That’s exactly what happened when a man suggested his nephew should acknowledge his grandmother — and suddenly his sister acted like he crossed a line.

You’ll want to keep reading for this one.

AITA For telling my sister that her son shouldn’t ignore our grandmother?

Last weekend I (28M) was at my grandmother’s place, and my sister’s 4-year-old was there too.

But the child wasn’t exactly present.

He was watching his iPad the whole time, and when my grandmother asked him something, he didn’t respond or even look up.

So when he finally spoke up to his sister, she didn’t take it well.

It happened four times, and the fifth time I gently told my sister that he should not do that and he should learn how to respect someone by listening, and that being on the iPad constantly might not be the best for him.

She immediately got upset and told me that I don’t have kids, so I shouldn’t tell her how to raise hers.

He knew he only had good intentions.

I didn’t mean to offend her, and I felt bad for my grandmother.

AITA?

If his sister doesn’t want feedback, she might try parenting instead of letting an iPad do all the work.

What did Reddit think?

This mother is missing out on teaching her kid some essential life lessons.

Discipline exists for a reason.

This fellow parent agrees that this behavior is just plain disrespectful.

Some grandmas would have just taken it upon themselves to do the disciplining themselves.

If his sister felt shamed by his suggestion, maybe that’s a sign she should do something differently with her parenting.

If she won’t teach her kid manners, someone eventually has to.
