Imagine living in an apartment building, and neighbors with a toddler move in. Would you be understanding if the toddler was loud sometimes, or would you be furious about the extra noise?

In this story, one person is in this situation, and they were understanding at first. However, the noise has gotten quite excessive, and they’re not sure how to handle the situation.

WIBTA for going to HOA to complain about my neighbor’s crying baby?

Recently, a young couple and their baby (toddler) moved into the apartment two doors down from me.

I had introduced myself to them a couple of days after they had settled in, and they seemed nice.

But then things got pretty bad.

Fast-forwarding a couple of weeks, and things take a turn for the worse.

Their toddler cries a LOT, like incessantly, but she’s a toddler, I guess she can’t help it, I thought.

It doesn’t help that the walls are thin, too. I can hear her crying all the time.

It only got worse.

But then, I found out that their toddler needs to expend a lot of energy, and does so by… running and screaming/crying up and down our apartment hallway.

I had gone over to them once and asked them if they could refrain their child from running up and down the hallway, as it’s disturbing others. It’s already bad enough that everyone else can hear her cry through the thin walls, but that’s something we can’t help. However, I feel that having the child run up and down the hallway is preventable/can be helped.

Apparently they disregarded my complaint, because I can still hear the little kid running up and down the hallway.

So, I’m considering going to HOA to settle this. I can’t take the little toddler anymore.

The parents really need to take their toddler to a park or indoor playground or something so she has a chance to run around and get her extra energy out without bothering the neighbors.

Let’s see how Reddit responded to this story.

A parent weighs in.

Another parent thinks it depends on the circumstances.

This person thinks the parents are lazy.

Another person thinks it’s okay to report them.

That child needs a playground!
