When there are two managers working, they need to be on the same page and to make sure things get done properly.

What would you do if the other manager kept sending people home and even started yelling and swearing at you in front of customers?

That is what happened to the guy in this story, so he reported it to the owner and got her fired, but now he feels bad since she is unemployed.

AITAH for getting my coworker fired?

I (21M) am a manager at a fast food restaurant. I’ve worked there since I was 16.

Not everyone is cut out to be a manager.

My coworker, Melissa (32F), is a bad manager. She doesn’t care about her job, her numbers never look good, and everything feels all over the place when she’s in charge.

Our GM insisted on keeping her in the position.

These two managers need to get on the same page.

Me and Melissa got into it because it was busy, and she kept sending people home or on break.

The orders kept taking 15+ minutes. I had to jump in and get all the orders out to everyone. After the rush, we started arguing.

Who is actually responsible for this?

I asked her why would she send everyone home and on break during the rush, and she said it’s to keep labor down.

Our arguing turned into yelling. She then proceeded to cuss me out. This was the last straw for me.

It sounds like Melissa was on her last warning anyway.

Once my shift ended, I called my boss and told her what happened. I guess that was the last straw. The very next day, I was running the morning shift, and then Melissa came in.

Our boss was there too. She asked both of us to come to the office. She then proceeded to fire Melissa for cussing out loud where the customers can hear and also for her performance.

It is no surprise that she is upset.

She told me thanks a lot and then clocked out and never came back.

I know she had a child so I’m just feeling kind of guilty. I know if I didn’t snitch she would still have a job.

AITAH?

Melissa wasn’t a good manager anyway, and she would have been fired eventually. Neither of them should be yelling within earshot of customers, though.
