Resignations are supposed to be routine after a while. For one worker with 15 years of experience and four previous resignations under his belt, this one broke every pattern he’d ever known.

He submitted a standard resignation notice to HR, planning to work through the following month like he’d done multiple times before at other jobs.

Within minutes of it being read, his boss soon blocked him on every messaging platform and removed from every work group entirely.

Two months into a job already plagued by late pay and toxic energy, the exit somehow turned even stranger than the job itself.

I Sent a Resignation Message to My Boss, He Blocked Me Right Away

Few days ago, I sent a resignation letter to my HR saying I’ll quit next month.

But his boss seemed to take this news especially hard.

He read it right away, but suddenly he blocked me on Telegram and WhatsApp. He kicked me out of the Telegram and WhatsApp group.

No contact at all from work, even to this day.

I didn’t come to work, because I’m scared, and I’m assuming it’s an “okay, then get out of my face” act.

The whole thing starts to feel like one big game.

My co-worker told me there is no replacement. The clinic manager even asked if I’m sick, though she’s not contacting me.

I’ve only been working there for 2 months, but dang, I hated it.

It’s just toxic, the pay always late, so on and so on.

I’ve been in the workforce for almost 15 years, and this kind of thing never happened to me.

Kinda regretting that I left my previous job just for a higher pay.

None of his other employers have behaved this way.

I resigned 4 times in my whole career before this, all of them were nice: “I’m sorry to hear that, is there anything we can do to change your mind, but of course, it’s your decision and we will respect that.” Kind of stuff.

But this, the fifth time is wild.

This sounds extremely unprofessional.

Maybe there will always be some kind of unfair double standard.

He has to think one step ahead of his employer.

The boss’ petty behavior in this situation only underscores the horrible culture he’s built at that company. As the employee already noted, other businesses don’t behave this way.

Maybe asking his already-toxic boss to respond well to his resignation was always going to be an uphill battle.
