Coworker constantly talks and follows me around & has no self awareness.

Firstly, I work at an English academy in Vietnam as a foreign English teacher. All my coworkers are Vietnamese and are all very nice people to work with.

But there is this one woman. She constantly looks for me to talk.

She follows me around and likes to brag about how good her English is.

It almost feels like she is trying to belittle me and my teaching skills. She is not even a teacher.

This man got mad when his coworker gave him an English exam.

The other day, she gave me a university-level English exam. She set a timer on her phone.

I was livid.

I have noticed something. When the boss is around, she never irritates me. When he is here, she seems to hold back.

She seems to know she should not be conversing with me. And she should not be getting distracted from work.

He doesn’t know how to deal with her.

I do not know what to say or do. This is making work really hard for me.

I am a very non-confrontational person.

In this case, I need to say something, but I do not want to be rude.

She seems socially unaware. She does not have friends. She has no social awareness. Everyone at work treats her differently.

There really are coworkers who just get on your nerves. Like, what does she want with OP? Why was she “competing” with him?

That sounds really awkward. Giving you a timed test when you are both teachers is way out of line.

I guess it’s time for him to finally speak up and let her know he feels uncomfortable.
