Living below noisy neighbors is a common complaint. Living below someone who calls the police over literally everything is a much bigger problem.
One renter has spent two years dealing with a difficult downstairs neighbor who blasts music at all hours while somehow still filing noise complaints against her for simply walking around her own apartment.
When her boyfriend tried addressing it directly, the neighbor skipped the conversation entirely and called the police instead, accusing him of threats that never happened.
The unsettling stares from his balcony toward anyone walking by only added to the tension.
Now the renter is starting to feel trapped in her own home.

Neighbor calling the cops on me for no reason
I live in an apartment unit that has 3 floors, and I live on the top floor. I have a neighbor underneath me that has been nothing but issues the past 2 years I’ve been here.
I am 26 and live with my boyfriend. I work from home and I’m usually pretty quiet.
Her neighbor, on the other hand…
My neighbor below me is constantly blasting music 24/7, but will make a noise complaint against me for “walking too loud.”
This neighbor wasn’t one for talking it out.
When we got our first one, my boyfriend went to go talk with our neighbor in person, and instead of answering his door, he called the cops on him, saying my boyfriend was threatening and harassing him.
Our balconies face the parking lot, and my neighbor will sit outside all day and stare and talk to anyone who walks by, and I can see how uncomfortable some get.
This created some serious bad blood.
Every day me and my boyfriend have to walk by him since he just sits on his balcony and stares at us, and yesterday my boyfriend said something under his breath.
Today I have the cops at my door again, saying my neighbor called the cops saying my boyfriend called him a *****.
The renter calls out how unfair this all is.
Cops basically said this dude calls them for everything and has been a problem.
My issue is, I live here and I do nothing for cops to be pounding at my door over nothing, while this man does whatever he wants and gets away with it.
He calls the cops every time.
This whole situation is completely out of control.
What did Reddit have to say?
It’s time to start documenting.
You can’t just call 911 for anything and everything.
The cops don’t appear to be taking this seriously.

There’s a word for what’s happening here.
Calling the police is supposed to be reserved for actual problems, not a communication tool for avoiding an uncomfortable knock on the door. Skipping a conversation entirely in favor of empty threats shows just how mature this neighbor is.
Even the responding officers themselves confirmed this guy calls them over everything.
You can’t weaponize the police to avoid being called out for being an awful neighbor.
