Imagine trying to work in an office when your next door neighbor in the same office building is blasting loud music.

It’d be pretty hard to get any work done, wouldn’t it?

That’s exactly what the person who wrote this story is dealing with. It’s ironic because this neighbor from hell is actually a church!

He’s not sure what to do about the problem, but he definitely can’t work when the church members have their speakers on!

Loud church next door makes working unbearable (commercial)

A branch of the company I work for recently moved into a small office space.

The area is predominately furniture and home material businesses.

Other than a forklift, there is really no noise that penetrates the walls during the day.

However, untold to us when we leased the building, and not on Google Maps or the listing brochure, is a church right next door.

The church is pretty….loud.

About half the days of the week, around 5:30PM, the church will rehearse or play for a church session.

I’m trying to be respectful of their worship but they have some JBL 9000’s cranked to 11 and my office is only 2 pieces of drywall from their (open and reverberant) space.

The loudness and especially the resonance through the walls truly makes it unbearable to do any office work for the 2-4 hours they rehearse.

I have to work later in the day often and right now I have to grit my teeth to even be in my office.

They really don’t need to be that loud!

I hate to be that tenant that moves in and complains, but it seems to be a totally inappropriate space to be that loud here and it renders my office uninhabitable without earplugs in the afternoons they practice or play. (I can still feel it)

The weird thing is that when they do have an official session, there’s like 3 families that come.

It’s a very very small church with very very big speakers.

For reference these spaces are about 1800sqft with no interior insulation and cheap hollow construction.

That would be annoying! I wonder if they would be willing to rehearse later in the day after business hours.

If that doesn’t work, I’d ask if I could work from home. It would be hard to get anything done with all that noise.
