We encounter quite a few stories about people getting ripped off by their bosses, but if someone is a union worker, well, that just doesn’t seem to happen very often.

In fact, I can’t recall ever having seen a story like the one you’re about to lay your eyes on.

The guy who wrote it is an electrician and he talked about how he wised up and found out that he’s been played at his new job.

Take a look at what he had to say about this situation.

Just found out I’ve been massively underpaid.

“I got hired as a technician for a construction company a few months ago.

My skills are niche and most people at my company who have my title cannot perform the work I can. They’re electricians and trade workers who have my technician title in name alone.

My company is also part of the IBEW union, so I had to join the union when I started my job.

My company offered me $35/hour to start, I negotiated my way up to $40/hour. Since I’ve started, multiple people have assumed I’m making $65/hour.

Oh, wow…

I finally called the union hall to ask what the rate is for my position. They told me that on most of my jobs, I should be making $65-70/hour.

The union hall asked if I wanted them to make a big fuss about it, I told them I would talk to the supervisor first.

This is pretty infuriating…

It sucks that the guys next to me have to ask me to show them how to perform the work, foremen call me to fix their problems, all the while I’m making almost $30/hour less than the next guy.

I’m going to talk to my boss tomorrow and ask him why the union hall says I should be making a lot more than I am.

And ask if there’s going to be backpay coming my way for all the times I was supposed to be making that $65-70/hour.

I’m tired of always having to fight for fair pay.

Wish me luck…”

Well, better late than never, I guess…

But this guy needs to either start getting paid what he’s worth, or he’s gotta hit the road.

No doubt about it!

Good thing he found out that he’s getting ripped off!
