Angry Customer Demanded “A Ton Of Ranch” For His Salad, So The Manager Gave Him Hundreds Of Packets And He Ended Up Arrested

When you work in fast food, you are bound to eventually get an irate customer who makes ridiculous demands and yells at the employees.
What would you do if one incredibly rude customer in the drive-through demanded a salad with extra ranch, and not just a couple of packets, but ‘a ton of extra ranch’?
That is what happened to the manager in this story, so she took about 250 packets of ranch that were going to expire the next day and handed them all out the window to the customer. He became enraged, which eventually led to his arrest.
This is a great story that just keeps getting better. Read through the whole thing below and see what you think.
Too much ranch dressing
This happened in 2013, but I still laugh when I think about it, so I thought I’d share.
I wonder what is going on.
I used to be a fast-food manager. Every night I’d handle all the inventory. I liked to get an early jump on it, so I’d start roughly 30 minutes to close.
One night I was counting inventory and getting ready to place the week’s orders, and my grill guy runs back to the office, taps his headset, and says, “You need to hear this.”
What is going on with his best employee?
This was odd because the person I had on drive-thru was this kid named John. John was an adopted kid from Russia, and he had a thick Russian accent, but he was objectively the best employee in the whole building.
He worked hard, he worked fast, and he was the friendliest person I’d ever met. I never had issues on his shifts.
This customer is behaving unacceptably.
I put my headset on, and I hear this man just absolutely berating John. He’s telling him to get out of the country, raving about immigration, calling him slurs, saying he’s taking jobs from real Americans. So I jump in.
“Hi sir, what seems to be the problem?”
“Are you the manager?”
What a horrible person.
“I am. Can you fill me in on what’s upsetting you tonight?”
“Well, this LAZY MEXICAN is refusing to sell me a baked potato when I know you have them.”
“Sir, I’m sorry, we are out of baked potatoes for the night. Is there anything else I can get for you?”
At this point, I wouldn’t serve him even if I had a million baked potatoes.
“That’s a lie! Make more then!”
“Sir, the baked potatoes take 4 hours to cook, and we close in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, we can’t predict how many potatoes will be ordered, and it looks like someone else bought the rest of what we had just before you came to order. Is there something else I can get you?”
“You should be better prepared because this is ******* ridiculous!”
Well, a salad will have to do.
“I understand. Is there anything else I can get you?”
“Small salad, extra ranch.”
“Got it. Anything else?”
This guy loves his ranch.
“And I don’t mean like 1 or two packets like you idiots always give me. I mean I want lots of ranch. Like I want a ton of ranch, got it?!”
“Got it. Please pull forward.”
“******* idiots.”
Now he has something to do with all the ranch.
Now I’m pretty mad about the way he was talking to John, John’s clearly distressed… and I had just done inventory. I had a whole box of ranch that I was gonna need to toss that night because it expired the next day.
I grab a large bag and start filling it with packets of ranch. I must’ve put like 250 ranch packets in there lol. My kitchen was busting up.
He wanted tons of ranch; that is what he gets.
I take his money, I hand him the bag.
“WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?”
“Sorry?”
“Why is there so much ranch?!”
Well, you asked for extra ranch.
“Sir, you asked for extra ranch?”
“Are you kidding me?!”
“Did I not give you enough? I can get you some more if you want?”
This just keeps getting funnier.
“No, you stupid *****! I want a refund, and I’m not taking all this ranch.”
“Well, I can’t take food back through the window. It’s policy. Here’s your refund, though!”
“NOW TAKE BACK ALL THIS RANCH, YOU DUMB *****.”

He is really out of control.
“I can’t do that, sorry sir! You have a good night though!”
I close the window, and this man wouldn’t leave. I tell everyone to ignore him and to just start cleaning up. This man actually sat there for 45 minutes, and at some point he called the police!
Why am I not surprised?
A policeman shows up, and I tell them, “Yeah, this man berated my employees, demanded extra ranch, then refused to leave even after I gave a refund.”
He was arrested in our parking lot for driving under the influence while we watched laughing.
What an idiot.
I thought he was just an angry bigot, but it turned out that he was a drunk, angry bigot who would be arrested over ranch.
Why is it that the people who cause the most trouble are also the ones who are the biggest idiots? How frustrating.
Let’s see what the people in the comments have to say about what happened.
Here is someone who did something similar.

Yes, it was perfect.

This is a great way to handle situations where people want out-of-stock food.

Plenty of managers in America would refuse him service.

If you enjoyed this story, check out this post about an employee who won’t answer calls after hours since he was switched from salary to hourly pay.
Refusing service to people like this does make sense.

That customer was beyond out of line, but he got what was coming to him. Maybe it would have been better to just refuse him service, but this was a lot more fun.
Especially since he was drinking and driving, so this got him off the roads.
