There’s only so much noise a person can tolerate before home stops feeling like somewhere you can actually relax.

One tenant had dealt with difficult neighbors before, but the family living directly below them had taken things to a new low.

From missing Amazon packages, to excessive noise from both the kids and the dog, the tenant slowly began to lose their sanity.

So with the household already struggling to function around the constant noise, the tenant started wondering whether there was any realistic way out.

Worst Neighbours we’ve ever had.

We live on the top floor of a block of flats. It’s only 3 floors, so it’s not a high rise.

A family moved in on the bottom floor directly below us a couple years ago, and I’ve never had “neighbours” like them.

There’s pretty much no limit to what these awful neighbors will do.

They steal our Amazon parcels because they never come to the door, but that can be worked around. It’s annoying, but it’s a horrible estate anyway, so expected.

The thing I can’t accept is the constant screaming at 2/3am. I think they have an autistic daughter, so I do have some sympathy, but the mother is the worst of all.

When I say screaming, I don’t mean normal arguing, I mean extreme screaming. This happens every single night and every single day. I’m not being dramatic either.

Then there’s the matter of the barking.

Then just to add insult to injury, they have a dog that barks at anything that moves, for hours on end. It will start most of the time at around 7am, and stop hours later after constant barking.

Not on and off every few minutes. I’m talking 1 second between each bark, for 3 ish hours straight.

The renter starts to lose hope anything will ever be done about it.

The one that bothers me most is the dog. I don’t start work until later on, but the rest of my household work normal hours.

It’s a council flat, so there is no way they will get evicted.

This would test anyone’s sanity.

Eviction is possible if the renter just keeps at it.

This tenant had clearly reached the end of their patience, and when you look at the facts, it’s hard to blame them.

Noise between apartments is one thing when it happens occasionally, but being woken by screaming at 2AM and then having a dog launch into a three-hour barking session the next morning would wear down almost anyone.

The situation also shows how complicated bad-neighbor disputes can become when there are genuine circumstances deserving of sympathy mixed in with behavior that still affects everyone around them.

Understanding why someone is struggling doesn’t take away the real impact it has on other people’s lives.

Parcels can be replaced, but sleep can’t, and earplugs can only do so much.
