Good neighbors can make apartment living much easier, even when problems come up.

My neighbor actually kept it down

My next-door neighbor is a young college student who has parties at least three times a week.

Often times, they last until 5 am. It usually winds down just before sunrise.

The thing is, I can only hear her and her friends if the balcony door is open or if they’re playing music just excessively loud.

I had had enough one morning a month ago after being woken up around 3 am.

So I knocked on her door and told her it needed to stop.

This woman noticed that her neighbor is now being more considerate

Now, even months later, she’s still having parties for sure.

But they turn the music off or down at a reasonable hour.

They don’t play loud music when they get home from the bars.

They don’t stand on the balcony all night anymore. They keep the balcony door closed.

I’ve heard who I think is her boyfriend tell people to get off the balcony because the noise echoes.

They’re also being kind to each other.

I have insomnia and am a light sleeper.

So I’ll always be able to hear something just because of how terribly I sleep. But it’s so much nicer now.

And I’m very nice to her when I see her and her dogs, and she is kind to me and mine.

I know there are so many neighbor horror stories.

But there are times when it’s not so terrible.

Whoa! This is a rare neighbor story where communicating the problem actually helped solve it.

Unlike other stories, OP’s neighbor listened to the complaint and made several changes to ensure OP wasn’t bothered by the parties and noise.
