It’s hard to know where the line is when someone else is having a party in your house.

One woman agreed to let a friend host her 30th birthday at her home while she was out celebrating someone else.

Later that night, she decided to bring her own friends back and figured everyone could hang out together.

However, she never asked the birthday girl first or even gave her a warning.

Her friend was clearly upset, and the next morning, she said the surprise guests ruined her birthday.

Read on to see who you think was in the wrong here.

AITA – for inviting my friends over without consulting my other friend

My friend, who I’m not super close with, asked me if she could host her 30th birthday at my house because she lives in a small studio and wants to have about 20 people over.

I let her know that I was busy that day with a close friend’s graduation and dinner, but she could still host the party as long as everyone stays away from the bedrooms and my office and, of course, respects the space in general.

She agreed.

It started getting late, so she decided to take a few friends back to her place.

On her birthday, she came early, decorated, and set up everything. I was gone long before her guests started arriving around 5/6 PM.

I went to my friend’s graduation and dinner, and around 11 PM, I suggested we all go back to my house and continue the celebration.

I thought she’s already had about 5/6 hours alone at the house with her guests, so it should be okay to merge the two parties even though they don’t know each other.

Now, her friend is upset about the whole thing.

I didn’t consult her or give her a heads-up, which is why I’m questioning whether I was in the wrong and just showed up with my guests with lots of drinks in hand. She looked very upset and gave me the cold shoulder for the rest of the night.

The next morning, she texted me saying that I ruined her 30th birthday because she only wanted to spend it with people close to her.

I want to reply to apologize, but I keep going back and forth on whether I was inconsiderate or she’s being entitled.

AITA?

Wow! Considering it wasn’t even her place, she has a lot of nerve.

Let’s check out what the people over at Reddit think about it.

This is so true.

She definitely should’ve asked first.

Sure, it’s her house, but she agreed to let her friend use it for her birthday and didn’t really set any rules beforehand.

Bringing a whole group of people home without warning completely changed the party her friend had planned.

Even a quick text would have given her the chance to say whether she was okay with that.
