Some people take games a lot more seriously than others.

One woman says she and her husband had friends over and ended up playing Mafia.

During the game, he started suspecting her, so she looked him in the eye and insisted she wasn’t the mafia.

Then he asked her to pinky promise, and she went along with it before taking him out in the next round.

The next morning, though, he told her that using their trust to win made him wonder what else she might lie about.

My husband M(27) and I F(26) had a bunch of friends over last night to play trivia and some games.

Truthfully, I get pretty intensely into games and am a very social, loud person. My husband knows this about me and also gets pretty into games when he’s good at them. Sometimes he’s not great at them.

Over time, we’ve realized that Mafia is a game he loves but isn’t very good at because he’s used to having his heart on his sleeve and kind of being super honest and open about everything.

I’m really good at it because I grew up in a super strict family and am used to lying my way through things.

It didn’t take him long to start suspecting her.

During the game, he started suspecting me early on, so I called him out, looked him in the eye, and said, “Dude, I’m not the Mafia,” and he stood up and asked me to pinky promise that I wasn’t.

I would not have chosen to pinky promise him, but since he initiated in front of the group, meaning if I rejected, they would know I was the Mafia, I pinky promised and then killed him in the next round.

It turns out he was the nurse and had saved me that round because he trusted me. I get that it hurts, but it’s just a game.

He woke up the next day and told me that if I’m able to use our trust to win a game, what’s stopping me from using it to manipulate him further?

Oh no! It’s easy to see both sides, but maybe he is being a little too sensitive about this.
