Imagine moving into a house in a nice quiet neighborhood. But then your neighbors move in, and the noise never stops. For over two years, you’ve been dealing with a barking dog and constant construction noise.

What would you do?

In this story, one couple has been dealing with this noise for over two years, and there’s no end in sight. They desperately want to know how to get the neighbor to keep to down.

Constant DIY For 2 Years

Almost every day, knocking, banging, tapping, sawing, power sawing, sanding, power sanding, drilling, hammering, and then they keep door slamming which sets their dog off(the first glorious noise we hear from them every day at 7am).

I contacted my local council(UK) and sent them a detailed noise diary of the last week of noise.

Apparently they sent a letter and for 1 amazing day it was quiet.

But the noise didn’t stop forever.

Then yesterday he used his rear garden for sawing and sanding which meant I couldn’t hear it, amazing progress.

Then today, right outside my bedroom window this busy idiot is at it again.

I think we’ve been very generous with 2 years to finish whatever his latest project is this time. But it needs to stop soon or the consequences will be severe.

Here’s one revenge idea.

I’m thinking of putting some music on my bluetooth speaker and putting it outside in the our garden just a few feet away and playing songs like Barbie Girl, etc. as it’ll attract attention of passers by and make it look like it’s him listening to the music(we’ll shut our windows and leave the speaker outside).

I know it’s petty but 2 years of noise has me feeling anxious, stressed, tired, sick, and I even dread coming home from work because I just know whatever quiet time I’d like to have is going to be ruined.

For 2+ years we’ve put up with this and there is no help.

Over two years is a long time to put up with the constant noise.

Let’s see if Reddit has any suggestions.

The law may not be on OP’s side.

Unfortunately, if the neighbor isn’t being loud at night, there may not be any legal way to stop him from doing his construction projects. It’s just too bad he’s not more considerate of his neighbors.

It couldn’t hurt to try the music idea and see if it helps. Or moving. Moving might be a better idea.

Some neighbors are really inconsiderate.
