How weird is it when your husband doesn’t support you around toxic in-laws at all?!

This woman shares how she was left stranded with a choice she made for herself and her children.

Check out the full story.

WIBTA if me and children don’t attend my SIL’s graduation

I (27F) donβ€˜t want myself or my children (1 and 2) to attend my SIL’s graduation.

This doesn’t entirely have much to do with her, but I will say in the four years that I’ve known her, I have not had one conversation with her.

Things have always been weird between them…

We don’t have each others phone numbers, social media, we don’t have any relationship other than polite conversation in the few times we’ve been around each other. We live half way across the country.

The main issue is with my MIL. Her and I have had a very poor relationship since my first child was born and it has progressively gotten worse.

She will put us against each other, force my husband to choose a side, and throw a fit, pack and leave, threaten relationships if things don’t go her way.

We’ve even gotten into a huge fight that didn’t call her on my childβ€˜s first birthday so she could talk to them. Most of the time my husband has stuck up for me and our family, but he has not been recently.

That’s INSANE!

My breaking point with my MIL was a few months ago. To say that my husband and I were in a fight would be an understatement. To make a long story short, he had an affair, I kicked him out.

During this fight, he asked his mother to take our kids out of state without my permission so I would be unable to have access to them in retaliation to asking him to leave.

When I called her to let her know that this was not okay with me and she didn’t not have my approval to take my kids from me, she abused me out telling me I didn’t deserve to be a mother because I shouldn’t be treating her son that way.

They are so unreasonable towards her…

The conversation ended with something along the lines of β€œlosing your kids to CPS would be better than them dealing with you as a mom”. All because I told her son to leave after he messed up.

We have not spoken since then. My kids have been with me and I have made it clear I have zero intention on having any sort of relationship with her after everything she’s done.

But now my FIL has reached out asking about the graduation.

I know it’s a once in a lifetime event and I have told my husband that if his mom is able to just apologize for the last conversation we had, I can be the bigger person for my SIL and fly out of state, peacefully coexist, and come back home.

UH OH…

My husband asked my FIL to have my MIL call and apologize which led to a phone call I didn’t not hear but I can only assume didn’t go well.

After the phone call my husband picked yet another fight about it saying he pays all the bills (I’m a SAHM) and I do whatever he says and I have no control if he takes our kids or not.

I’ve told him to go but without an apology, I’m not going and neither will my kids after she was attempting to take them without my knowledge.

She’s made her decision…

Since I put my foot down, my husband hasn’t spoken to me. I was considering caving in because it isn’t worth the stressful environment for me until I saw a text my husband sent to my FIL.

He told him he would β€œlay down the law with meβ€œ until I agreed to let my children go. WIBTA if I stand my ground and don’t allow us to go?

WOW, that sounds like a tricky situation…

Why can’t she choose for herself and ignore the in-laws?
