“I’m trying to work from home in my apartment, and I’ve got this neighbor who lives in the complex.

He looks like a younger dude, maybe around my age, pretty big guy, and he pulls this bizarre routine almost every day.

​The first time I noticed him today, he walked out like he was heading to the trash/recycling area which is near my front windows.

Okay, fine.

That’s weird…

Except he didn’t have anything in his hands. Nothing. Then he just starts pacing back and forth between the bins and my front.

​My windows are right along the path where he walks, and the blinds were slightly cracked. With my bright screens illuminating my face, I know he can see in. Every single time he does a lap, his head snaps right toward my window.

At one point, he literally stood behind a tree holding his phone up—looking like he was texting, but holding it at an angle where he could easily peer around it right into my place.

​Part of my brain keeps trying to rationalize it: Dude, just chill, he’s probably just bored, lonely, listening to a podcast on his headphones, and trying to get his steps in. Maybe he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it. He doesn’t mean any harm.

She’s pretty creeped out about this.

​But then my gut is like… bro, you went out with no trash, you’re doing laps right past my windows, staring in every time, and now you’re hiding behind a tree?

What the hell?

​It’s just so distracting and exhausting to constantly have to decode someone else’s weird behavior just to feel safe in your own home.

I finally got up and shut my blinds, but now my apartment is pitch black in the middle of the day, which is so annoying. I shouldn’t have to live in a cave just to get some basic privacy.

She needs advice.
