It’s kind of funny how worked up some folks get about how OTHER PEOPLE look.

And if a person is getting married, you better believe that they’re gonna have something to say about what their honored guests look like!

In today’s story, a man opened up about why his family is giving him all kinds of grief before his sister’s wedding…because of his long hair.

Check out what he had to say!

AITA for refusing my family’s bribes and guilt trips to cut my long hair before my sister’s wedding?

“I (Adult Male) have long hair past my shoulders and a short beard kept trimmed to under an inch.

I take very good care of my hair. It is very healthy and well-maintained with frequent trims for both my hair and beard.

This guy is lookin’ good!

Day-to-day, I keep it tied up neatly in a bun or occasionally brushed down. I have a few gray patches in my beard. Overall I take pride in my grooming. I frequently get compliments on my hair, volume, and texture, from stylists.

My family, however, can’t stand it. They regularly tell me it looks “unprofessional,” “ugly,” and that it makes me look older.

They even complain about my hairline when I pull it back into a bun, even though I do not have a receding hairline and have no bald spot.

On top of that, they’ve accused me of growing my hair out just to “be rebellious and punish them.”

My sister is engaged, with an engagement party coming up soon followed by the wedding. While I haven’t been asked to be in the official wedding party, my sister did ask me to give a speech at the reception.

Give it a rest, people!

My family has been relentlessly pressuring me to cut my hair before the big day, insisting I’ll “ruin her wedding pictures.”

They’ve offered to pay for the haircut and heavily implied they’d give me cash on top of it if I just agree to chop it all off.

When the bribes didn’t work, the guilt-tripping dialed up to 11.

I’ve been receiving messages blaming me for not giving in, including texts like:

“Everything about the wedding is about looks. The Dress, the flowers, the setting. But I give up.”

“I tried. Because it means a lot to [my sister] and to me. Neither of us ever did anything to hurt you. If you want to keep it, keep it. Like everything else, I tried.”

This is so rude!

I find it deeply offensive that they expect me to alter my personal appearance to fit their aesthetic standards, especially when I keep it clean, neat, and well-groomed.

I’m not growing my hair for anyone but myself, and I’m not hurting anyone. Yet, they’re acting like holding my boundary is an intentional attack on the family.

AITA for turning down their bribes and refusing to cut my hair for my sister’s wedding?”
