Regular routines can become difficult when someone else’s schedule suddenly changes.

The following story is about a woman who has a regular weekly appointment with her massage therapist.

She had booked her appointments months in advance and had followed the same schedule for years.

However, her therapist started attending a Friday class that somehow conflicted with her schedule.

When her therapist asked her if she could come in 15 minutes earlier than her normal schedule, she couldn’t give her the answer she wanted.

Do you think that was a fair ask? Let’s take a closer look!

AITAH for not moving my appointment by 15 min?

I see a massage therapist every 4 to 6 weeks for a 90-minute massage.

I’ve been going to her on this schedule for years.

Every December, I book the next year’s appointments all at once.

Occasionally, they get moved because she might go on vacation or I might travel, etc.

But 90% of the time, it works out.

This woman’s massage therapist asked her if she could come earlier than her scheduled appointment.

This year, my MT signed up for a class she goes to every Friday.

She signed up for this class after I scheduled my appointment series with her.

The problem is this class has an overlap with my appointment time.

It’s not much, but if we keep my appointment time as scheduled, she’ll be 15 minutes late.

Lately, I’ve been getting texts from her a few days or a week out from my appointment asking if I can come in earlier so she won’t be late to her class.

Technically, she could accommodate her request, but it would be inconvenient on her part.

The thing is, I kind of have a routine of how I structure my mornings.

And it’s already hard to get there at 9:45 am.

I had wanted at one point to move my start time to 10:30, but it doesn’t work for her.

Technically, if I rearranged how I structure my mornings, I could accommodate the change.

But it would be inconvenient for me to do that.

She still keeps her original schedule, even if it means her therapist would be late for her classes.

I did offer to come later in the afternoon, but she has other appointments that conflict.

So, I have been holding to my appointment time.

And she’ll tell me that’s okay, she’ll just be late to her class.

So, AITAH for not changing my appointment time?

Hmmm… This honestly sounds like an uncomfortable situation to be in.

I mean, out of kindness and consideration, OP can give in to the request. But she would have to be the one to make a major adjustment.

It was her therapist who chose the schedule of her class, so I guess she should be the one to deal with it.

It’s not OP’s problem to begin with, right? Well, let’s check out the comments of other people on this story.

This user makes a valid point.

Finally, here’s an honest opinion.

You shouldn’t always assume that your client will accommodate your schedule changes.
