Group projects can be stressful when everyone receives the same grade.

In this story, a high-performing student had to work on a group project with 3 other classmates.

He worried that two weaker students in his group would hurt his excellent grade.

So, he came up with a plan to carry them and ensure that his grades wouldn’t be badly affected.

Another dreaded group project story

When I was still in school, I took an American Lit class. It was my favorite class that term.

During one book we had to read, the teacher decided it would be a group project.

We would all share the lowest grade on the final test for that book.

The group I was in was 4 people. Another student and I were good students. The other 2 were not.

This student read the book and took important notes.

I was getting an excellent grade in the class and didn’t want to ruin it.

The teacher then announced that the final test would be open notes.

Any notes that the group took would be able to be used during the test.

So as I read the book, I typed out on the computer important things about each chapter.

He told his teacher what he did to help his groupmates get good grades.

Then on test day, I handed out copies to the other members of my team.

All 4 of us ended up with the highest marks in the class on the test.

The teacher later asked me how I got the 2 bad students to do well on the test.

So I told her what I did. She just laughed.

Wow! OP clearly found a clever way to protect his grade without simply doing the entire project for everyone.

His detailed notes ended up helping the weaker students perform just as well as the stronger ones.

Sometimes the best group project strategy is simply bringing the notes and sharing them with your groupmates.
