Woman Lent Her Friend About $1,000 Over The Summer, But Now She’s Demanding Repayment After They Fell Out

When you lend someone money, it is important to make it clear that you want to be paid back, and when that should happen.
What would you do if you lent a friend around $1000 over the course of a summer, but never had any details worked out, and then you stopped hanging out with her?
That is what happened to the woman in this story, and when she sent her former friend a CashApp request for the money, she refused to pay it.
I think there is very little chance that she will ever be repaid. Check out the full story below and see what you think.
AIO for I demanding money from an ex-friend?
Now I haven’t actually demanded yet, but I want to know if I would be if I did.
Let’s see what happened.
Ok, so my (f19) ex-friend (f21 who we’ll call Amy) hung out a LOT over the last Summer.
At the time, she didn’t have a job, but she has one now. At the time, I worked part time for $11.50 per hour (I now work full time somewhere else for $16 per hour).
Was there an agreement on getting paid back?
I don’t know what her current job is, but I know she has one. I still have her on social media, in my contacts, and on CashApp, despite not really being friends with Amy anymore.
When we hung out, I paid for so many things for her, most of which I didn’t get anything out of. I spent money on food outside of what she ate at home, snacks, alcohol, bug spray (which I got to use very little of, she used every 5 minutes then complained and asked me to buy more when it ran out), etc.
Ok, so she was supposed to repay her.
Some if the things I paid for I wasn’t even there for, she texted me for money and I sent it. I was ok with sending money because she always said she would pay me back when she had money.
Over the summer, I gave her around $1,000, probably more. After the summer ended, me and my friend group kind of distanced ourselves.
Why did she pay one friend back but not the other.
This was because we didn’t want to hang out with someone who complained all the time and would get mad whenever someone other than her had a significant other hang out when she always had her talking stage over and would complain when they weren’t there, plus other things.
Now, she gave the other friend who sent her money their money back, but I waited months and Amy hadn’t sent me a dime.
It was weird to send the request out of the blue.
About a month ago, I sent Amy a text and a request on CashApp for $110 since that was the money sent on the app since it was the only money I actually had receipts for.
She blew up at me for this. I said that I only wanted that $110 and that I’m willing to forget about all the other money, but I want the money to use on rent.
It is not surprising that she got upset.
She said that I was being rude and she has stuff she needs her money for. I said I understood and just asked if she could send the money when she can.
She didn’t block me, but she just stopped the conversation there and denied the request on CashApp.
While she should get the money, she isn’t going to.
That weekend, I saw on Amy’s Instagram that she went to a show that would’ve been more expensive than the money I asked for.
It has been a month since I asked for my money, I still haven’t gotten anything back. So would I be over reacting if I demanded money from her?
There isn’t anything wrong with asking for the money back, but she should go in with low expectations because it is unlikely that she will ever get paid.

If she doesn’t have it in writing, she doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Unfortunately, she is never going to see this money again.
