This Is Why Some House Cats Have Sagging Bellies

Some cat owners have noticed that their pets have sagging bellies and have worried that they might be overweight. But instead of this being a sign of obesity, those sagging bellies are actually what’s known as a primordial pouch.

These pouches are made up of fat and excess skin and are a genetic inheritance from their feline ancestors. The purpose of primordial pouches is to help cats survive in times of food scarcity.
