Wanting to help out a good friend is always commendable, even if they’re not always amenable.
What would you do if your friend was in a tough spot, but your patience was wearing thin? One guy recently sought advice on this over Reddit. Here are the details.
AITA for wanting to kick my roommate out?
I (29M) invited one of my friends (26F) to stay with me until she gets back on her feet.
Her previous “home” she was staying with one of her friends quickly turned toxic.
Not everyone is cut out to be a suitable roommate.
Her friend’s husband tried repeatedly to get her out of that, and I had her move here with the condition that she gets a job and helps with bills.
It’s been 2 months with no job now and she helps with chores around the house but the financial burden is still solely on me.
At least he tried to set a boundary.
I bring up the job hunt every couple of weeks and it’s the same story, rejection emails and hiring managers refusing to talk.
What do I do?
Yikes, no good deed goes unpunished.
Let’s see if Reddit had any words of wisdom.
Some comments laid out a plain and simple plan.

Others offered some perspective.

One person shared some nuance.

Another shared some helpful dialogue.

Though others were less sympathetic.

He’s not going to let her make his house a home.
If you enjoyed that story, read this one about a mom who was forced to bring her three kids with her to apply for government benefits, but ended up getting the job of her dreams.
