This is the First Ride Down the World’s Tallest Waterslide
At 168 ft and 7 inches, Verrückt (German for ‘insane’) is the world’s tallest waterslide. Set to open this month at Kansas City’s Schlitterbahn Waterpark, riders will have to climb 264 steps to reach the top of this 17-story behemoth. Four-person rafts will reach speeds in excess of 60 mph before ascending a second 5-story incline before hurtling down another 50 ft and reaching the end of the ride.
Slide designer Jeff Henry and ride engineer John Schooley took the inaugural ride down Verrückt, which you can see above. What a rush!
