Hotel policies should be simple to understand.
The following story involves an employee who works at the front desk and deals with guests who don’t understand the concept of “checking out.”
Many say they are leaving, so they will hand over their key… but then, they still stay in the room for hours anyway.
One couple even checked out early, but they expected to get the key again after handing it over.
Wow! That’s really weird. Read the full story below for all the details.
the term “checking out” is not up to interpretation.
The number of people who come up to me during breakfast hours is mind-boggling.
They say, “I’d like to settle up and check out.”
They then get mad when housekeeping interrupts them in the shower two hours later.
It is honestly confusing behavior. Like, dude, you checked out. That means you are out of the hotel.
This employee is certainly confused.
What is confusing about this?
Why would we check you out if you are going to hang around in the room for a few more hours?
How would we know when you actually leave or if you left on time?
This is not a hard concept to grasp. Come on, people.
He’s wondering why guests are checking out early if they’re still gonna use the room.
Literally five minutes ago at 9 a.m., a couple came to the front desk. They handed me their key and said, “We’re checking out today.”
So I processed their check-out and wished them well.
He then just stared at me and said, “But we need the key to get into the room.” He added that they were not leaving until noon.
Then why make me check you out? GAH!
Lol. That’s funny and certainly would drive anyone crazy.
Checking out but staying anyway makes no sense. Is it really that confusing for some people?
Seriously, some guests really test basic logic. Let’s find out what others have to say about this on Reddit.
