Family conflicts can become even more complicated when trust is broken.

In this story, a young woman got pregnant and gave birth to a surprise baby with her boyfriend.

Because she and her mother-in-law never had a good relationship, she refused to let her MIL see her daughter.

But with her boyfriend feeling unsure about her decision, she’s confused about what to do next.

If you were in her shoes, what would you do? Check out the full details below.

AITAH for not allowing my mother-in-law to see my daughter?

This happened about 2 years ago.

I (19F) and my boyfriend (21M) have a 20-month-old daughter.

My mother-in-law and I don’t really do well together.

She accused me of being a gold digger.

This young woman didn’t know she was pregnant.

Fast forward to when our daughter was born, she was a surprise baby.

I didn’t know I was pregnant and I didn’t have a baby bump.

My boyfriend posted a photo of her on Facebook. She saw it.

Immediately, she begins calling and texting my boyfriend.

She asked if she could visit and come see her.

Her mother-in-law never treated her well.

At this point, we hadn’t talked to her in 10 and a half months.

She refused to talk to me or my family.

She has been accusing me of unspeakable acts towards kids.

I don’t want her near my daughter.

Now, she’s torn between allowing her MIL to see her daughter and keeping their life private.

But my boyfriend seems mixed about it. It makes me feel miserable.

AITA for not letting her see my daughter even when I know all of this?

Oh no, those are some heavy accusations!

It’s completely understandable that OP wants to protect her child first.

Trust isn’t something you can just rebuild overnight, especially after such serious claims.

Her boyfriend’s mixed feelings make it tougher, but I believe that her instincts as a mother matter, too,
