Her Bedroom Used To Be Her Safe Space, But Her Neighbor’s Late-Night Guitar And Shouting Have Her Dreading Going Home

A bedroom is supposed to be the one place where the rest of the world stops talking.

One teenager used to rely on hers as her escape from noise and people, until an inconsiderate neighbor‘s son moved into the room right next to hers.

He plays the same guitar riff over and over late at night, shouts through his video games, and seems to do it more when she complains.

His mother throws loud parties, sings poorly, and ignores every request from the family next door, while the family’s dog barks constantly, roams the neighborhood, and has gone after the teen’s own dog.

White noise didn’t help, banging on the wall made things worse, and her mum’s report to the antisocial behaviour team changed nothing.

Now she can’t read, game, or watch a show in her own room.

You’ll want to read on to find out what Reddit had to say.

Inconsiderate neighbours

My neighbours are extremely inconsiderate. The eldest son plays the guitar mainly late at night, and he is horrible at it. He plays the exact same thing over and over again, and it’s driving me insane.

He also talks and shouts way too loudly when playing games, which I believe he’s doing on purpose, because I’ve complained multiple times about him and also banged on the wall.

This has really started to wear on this tenant’s mental health.

My room used to be my safe place that I would go to get away from noise and socialising, but since he’s moved into the room beside mine, I’m genuinely so stressed, and even one bit of noise from his room stresses me out.

But the son isn’t the only noisy one in the family.

Then you have the mother, who is the worst person ever. She’s constantly having parties or goes out drinking and sings really loudly (and horribly).

She does not give a crap about anyone but herself, and my mum has complained to her about the noise that the eldest makes, but she of course hasn’t done anything about it, because she doesn’t care.

Then there’s the family pet.

Then you’ve got their mutt of a dog, who barks constantly and craps in everyone’s garden around my neighbourhood, since she thinks it’s acceptable to let it roam around like a cat. It has also gone for my poor dog as well.

Now the tenant is starting to feel trapped in their own apartment.

I have genuinely lost interest in a lot of my things because I don’t want to be in my room anymore.

I can’t read, I can’t game, or watch a show/movie, and I simply can’t just hang out in my room anymore, which is driving me insane, since I really need time where I’m alone.

I need advice on what to do in this situation.

Nothing they’ve tried so far has seemed to work.

I have tried white noise, which someone told me to do, but that doesn’t work for me. My mum has reported it to the antisocial behaviour thing, but of course that hasn’t worked.

What a nightmare situation.

Redditors chime in with their thoughts.

It’s important to keep a detailed record.

Complaints like this can (and should) be reported.

Some people just love to get a reaction out of someone.

Losing the one room where you can recharge does more damage than the noise ever could.

She did everything people usually suggest, from white noise to complaints to an official report, and still ended up dreading her own bedroom. The wall banging probably handed her neighbor’s son a reaction to chase, so letting her mom handle all contact from now on makes sense.

Nobody should have to leave their own house to get an hour of silence.
