A Coworker Asked For A Ride And They Said Yes, But They Didn’t Know He Was Making A Six Month Commitment

Most of us have agreed to something only to later go, “Oh no what’ve I gotten myself into?!”
In this story, a coworker offers Larry a lift… and doesn’t realize it’s a six month commitment.
Let’s see what’s driving this drama…
WIBTA: Co worker asked for a lift to work at the end of the month, did not say it would be for the next 6.
I have a coworker, “Larry,” who, at the start of the month, asked if he could get a lift “as the guy who normally does it will be off.”
No further information was given.
I agreed as it’s practically en route to work.
Seems like a fine set up.
I assumed (I know, I know) that this would be for two weeks, with the lift guy being on holiday.
You know what they say when you ASSUME? Makes an AH of U and ME.
Found out today, from another source, lift guy is ill and will be off for 6 months.
We have a 5am start time.
Early birds might get the worm, but they don’t have to be happy about it.
I am not a morning person, and a bit grumpy but would endure for a short time to help a fellow human out.
I am not sure I want to do this for 6 months.
WIBTA If I put some kind of limit on this, or put an end to the lift to work when I was over doing it?
Six months is a long time…
There are no buses at that time and £6/7 taxi rides would be his only option.
Now I’m off for 3 days and the lift will begin next week.
Will not see him till then.
There’s some time to make this decision at least.
What do the comments think about this ride along?
This user says, NTA but LTK.
Another person suggests, NTA but could you make some $$$?
Someone else says, NTA but KISS:
One poster thinks it’s cut and dry.
This commenter also thinks simpler is better.
This guy offered his coworker a ride, but now he wants to call the lift off.
Who could blame him?
