It’s frustrating when your neighbors act like you’re not allowed to use the same space everyone else does.

One townhome resident is dealing with that after moving between two neighbors who are extremely particular about property lines.

At first, one neighbor kept moving the recycling bins and even left them blocking the driveway.

So, the resident tried putting them on the other side instead, only to have the second neighbor move them too.

Now, they’re waiting on the property manager to explain where the bins can actually go.

I guess we’re the only ones not allowed to have a recycling bin

I just moved into a really nice neighborhood of townhomes that also reeked of potential HOA/Karen shenanigans. I figured, nah, it’ll probably be fine and everyone will be chill….

Well, we’ve quickly discovered that apparently we got sandwiched between the only 2 neighbors that are VERY particular about their property line. So much so that I guess their property actually also extends like 3 feet into ours.

I’ve been taking pictures of the neighborhood, and due to the layout, almost everyone just puts their bins a little bit onto what I suspect is the neighbor’s property.

The rest of the neighborhood seems to be in agreement where the bins should be placed.

I don’t actually know 100% where the property line is, but I’m 99.9% sure. I only leave that .1% because I technically haven’t had it actually confirmed by a government surveyor or any other official documents.

So most people just agree to be normal people and accept having their neighbor’s bin 1 foot into their driveway, and then they put their bin 1 foot into the neighbor’s driveway, so on and so forth.

No, not the case.

Neighbor 1 has moved our bins, which I’m pretty sure were solidly within our property, to block our driveway. Multiple times.

Now, she’s really baffled by what happened.

What’s really baffling is they then decided to relocate their bins from where they happily were before on the other side to our side, on what I’m quite certain is actually our property, the one location that should’ve satisfied everyone, even the most picky of nitpickers.

I finally said, fine, I’ll reach out to our property manager and await further info, but I’ll move them to the other side at Neighbor 2’s for right now.

Those neighbors don’t use their driveway for anything (our bins were NOT blocking their driveway, to be clear, just near it), and their bins are already a bit across our line near our driveway (which is totally fine cuz, you know, we’re normal and understand).

Frustrated, she left a friendly note on the neighbor’s door.

Nope.

Old lady moved the bins the moment she saw them. Caught her on the security cams I installed yesterday for the other neighbors.

So I finally cracked and tried to knock to discuss. No answer. So I put a (kindly worded) note on their door asking to talk about the situation.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow. What a mess. I feel like a crazy person having to spend more than 5 minutes on this.

Wow. Some people are so picky about their lawns and property lines.

This person suggests staying on the property manager.

It’s annoying but a good thought.

It does sound like that.

This is way too much drama over a couple of recycling bins.

In life, you have to choose your battles, and for most people, this probably wouldn’t even be one.

Sure, it may be a pain, but she needs to make sure the bins stay completely on her own driveway.

That way, neither neighbor has anything to complain about, and hopefully, her time as a renter there will be a lot more peaceful.
