Her Neighbor Kept Walking Through Her Yard Right Outside Her Window—So She Finally Confronted Him

Imagine going for a walk in your neighborhood. Would you walk on the sidewalk or cut through your neighbors’ yards?
In this story, one woman has a neighbor who frequently cuts through her yard. She wouldn’t mind except that he walks so close to her house that she finds is startling.
Now, she’s wondering if she overreacted. Her boyfriend has been teasing her about it, but I think her reaction was perfectly reasonable.

AITAH for asking my neighbor to stop cutting across my front yard directly under my window?
I live on a corner lot with a narrow, unfenced front yard (about 6 feet from sidewalk to shrubs).
Our neighborhood has many dog owners, so there’s constant foot traffic.
I’m an animal lover and generally don’t mind dogs or people briefly stepping onto the lawn.
One neighbor walks too close to OP’s house.
However, one neighbor who lives a few blocks away, cuts diagonally across my yard every single day, coming within three feet of my living room window.
My doorbell camera sends alerts, and he’s often startled me when I’m inside, as it looks like someone is walking right up to the window.
A couple of days ago, I opened my blinds just as he was under the window, and it genuinely scared me.
She confronted him.
I quickly went outside and asked him to stop cutting across my yard, explaining that his proximity to the window often startled me.
He seemed confused but now walks on the other side of the street.
My boyfriend has been teasing me, calling me a “get off my lawn” middle-aged woman. But to be clear, I really don’t care if people or dogs are on the lawn; my issue is specifically with someone being repeatedly right under my living room window.
So, AITAH for asking him to stop?
He’s trespassing. There’s a difference between stepping slightly into someone’s yard near the sidewalk and actually walking through their yard so close to the house that they’re under the window. I don’t think she overreacted.
Let’s see how Reddit responded to this situation.
This person thinks men need to be taught “not to behave like a predator.” Honestly, that’s a good idea.

A sprinkler system would help.

At least she only had to bring it up once.

Here’s a vote for a fence.

The neighbor changed where he walks. He didn’t make a fuss about it. There’s no drama here.
Her boyfriend is the problem now. He’s making her feel bad about not wanting a stranger trespassing on her property.
It seems like the problem with the neighbor is solved, but if she wants to make sure, she could take the suggestions of adding a low fence or motion activated sprinklers just to be on the same side.
