She Changed Her Lifestyle to Be Healthier—Then Her Friend Texted Her After Dinner to Call Her Out.

Magnific
It’s weird how some people feel jealous of you when you’re just living your life.
In this case, after a woman had a frightening trip to the ER that revealed a blood glucose level of 280, she decided to take her food choices more seriously.
With type 2 diabetes running on both sides of her family, she started paying closer attention to her diet. She had good results, but for some reason, one of her friends felt offended by it.
She was left wondering if she did anything wrong.

AITA for not eating as much as my friend
For context: around last year November I (26 F) had to go to the ER because I got the flu and was having a hard time breathing.
Luckily there was nothing wrong with me but the doctors did tell me that I had a blood glucose of 280.
That was a wake up call for me because I know that type 2 diabetes runs on both sides of my family.
Since then, I have made VERY SIGNIFICANT lifestyle changes.
It’s something that needs maintenance.
I started to cut out a lot of my carbs and sugar which made me realize I was eating an extremely unbalanced diet and I also started weight training which helped me to lose around 10% of my body fat.
With all these lifestyle changes, I brought my A1C down to a healthy level without the use of medication.
Now just because I am healthy now does not mean that I can throw away my lifestyle changes.
My A1C has stayed low because I still try to keep the healthy habits I’ve developed.
I will eat something “carby” here and there but never more than what I am comfortable with.
She knows what she’s doing.
I will also try to stay within my calorie deficit to continue to lose body fat to help with my A1C.
Yesterday, I went out with some of my friends from college for dinner and I regularly play video games with them so we talk pretty often about life updates and they know of my health journey.
The group consisted of 5 guys and 1 girl other than me.
Things got weird.
During dinner, I was having a hard time trying to find something to eat that wouldn’t spike my blood sugar too much.
After dinner, the other girl in the group suggested we go out for dessert and I said I would come along but not get anything.
The next morning, I got a text from the other girl basically calling me a “pick me” for watching what I was eating.
She said I came off as fatphobic when I mentioned watching my calories and my sugar intake in front of the guys.
Yikes.
She said as a girls’ girl, I should have just eaten how I used to eat and not make her feel bad about what she ordered. I don’t ever recall making a comment on what she ordered so I am confused.
She said that this health journey has made me pretentious and it comes off as me looking down on bigger people.
That was never my intention but the goal of my health journey was to be healthier and losing weight was included in that.
AITA?

Someone shares their experience.

Diabetes is very serious.
Her “friend” trying to impress guys instead of just minding her own business is behaving embarrassingly.
She didn’t tell anyone to skip dessert and didn’t sound like she was bragging about anything, she just communicated her choice.
