Peaceful homes can quickly become stressful with difficult neighbors.

The following story involves a woman who struggles with her new council neighbors’ constant noise and outdoor activities.

From loud arguments and blasting music to kids playing all day, the disruptions never seemed to stop.

She wanted to confront them, but she’s afraid of possible backlash, so she feels stuck without an easy solution.

What do you think she should do? Read the full story below for all the details.

Council Neighbours Noise UK

Our old neighbour sadly had to be moved to a more appropriate house as his mobility declined.

He was a lovely man. He was polite, friendly, and no trouble at all.

We are not particularly loud people either. We own our house.

But the next house that is detached to us is council-owned.

This woman gets disrupted by the neighbor’s loud noise.

Since they moved in over a year ago, it has not been so fun.

They both shout at each other constantly and at their kids.

It is not just a little shouting. This is full-blown arguments.

They also play music most days from morning till night. They are always in the garden having friends over.

There are lots of kids screaming and shouting at all hours of the day. They have no control of the kids either.

She wanted to talk to them, but she might get in trouble.

I am not bothered about kids having fun or neighbours enjoying a BBQ.

But this is happening all the time. They do not work.

When I am WFH and I have to answer calls, I have to apologize to the caller in case they can hear them in the background.

They are not approachable or nice. I know if I ask them to keep it down, it will cause trouble.

I feel like I will not be left alone.

She didn’t want to move, so she’s wondering how to deal with it.

My partner does work away sometimes, so I do not like the thought of being alone if they cause any trouble.

We have worked hard to get our house. We were happy here.

Other than moving, which costs a lot, I am not sure what to do.

I can make a complaint to the council anonymously, but they will probably think it was us anyway, especially if we collect evidence against them.

Has anyone ever made complaints about these sort of neighbours and won? I am at a loss. 😩

Yikes! Dealing with non-stop noise like that can really wear you down, especially when you’re trying to work from home.

OP should indeed try to talk to them, but she should be ready to get dismissed.

Documenting their behavior and exploring other complaint options could also help.

I think everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own home without constant disruption.
