Noise problems can seriously affect daily life at home.
In this story, a woman has been struggling with her downstairs neighbor’s dog barking constantly for hours.
What started as a minor annoyance turned into relentless noise whenever the dog is left alone.
Now, even the thought of moving somewhere new brings anxiety about facing the same issue again.
Oh no! What a difficult place to be in. Read the full story below to find out more.
Has anyone had long term mental health issues following noisy neighbours?
I live in the UK in an apartment. There are 4 in a block.
I have owned the place and lived here for almost 10 years.
My downstairs neighbour has always been great up until getting a dog almost 3 years ago.
This sounds awful!
The barking and wailing is relentless. I cannot put it into words.
It is nonstop when it is left home alone. This can be for 3, 4, or 5 hours at a time.
She has mentioned before in passing that she knows the barking is “a pain.”
But she then justifies it by saying, as a joke, that he is a “great guard dog.”
This woman cannot relax at her own house.
He barks at everything, not only at threats.
I am on edge every second I spend at home. I cannot relax.
Anyone who has experienced something like this knows how distressing it is to listen to an animal wail for hours.
Now, she’s having anxiety about having neighbors so close to their house.
My fiancé and I are planning on buying a house to get away from this, but we can only afford a semi or terraced house.
Every time we see somewhere that we like, I have a gut-wrenching feeling like we are going to have noise issues with neighbours being so close.
When I hear a dog barking anywhere now, I feel a ball of anxiety in my stomach.
She feels like all the barking has affected her mental health.
I am a massive dog lover.
But I cannot get over how much this barking has affected my mental health.
Has anyone else been in the same situation? How was it when you moved?
Yikes! Just reading this story can give you the anxiety.
Constant barking like that can really wear down your nerves over time.
OP’s reaction and feelings are absolutely valid. She deserves to feel calm and comfortable in her own home.
