They Moved in and Immediately Blasted Noise—Now the Non-Stop Parties Are Getting Worse Every Night

When you live in a neighborhood, you have to expect that you will hear the neighbors from time to time.

What would you do if new neighbors moved in a couple of years ago, and since the very beginning they have been very loud with construction work, parties, yelling, and more? Even after you asked them to be quieter, they refuse and keep the noise up all throughout the night.

That is the situation that the woman in this story is in, and she is at her wits end trying to figure out what to do.

Unfortunately, unless they are breaking the law (which they may be), there isn’t much that can be done. Read through the full situation below, and see if you have any ideas.

Sick & Tired of the neighbours invading my home.

We had new neighbours move in a couple of years back, and we had a lot of noise from the get go.

We understood setting up a new home means some noise, but they had absolutely no consideration at all, and we had constant noise, all day, everyday. No respite at all.

We did speak to both the workmen (as the neighbours weren’t in at the time) and the neighbours directly when they were in.

Both blamed the other for the noise being so constant, ‘the owners were awkward and wanted it done to their time frame’ and ‘the workman would only work on Sundays’ etc etc, looking back, clearly just making excuses.

The kids aren’t going to be quiet either.

So, obviously we didn’t get off to the best start.

Fast forward to now and we can’t even sit in the house without some form of noise on, or we hear them.

They have 3 children, I would guess the eldest is around 12, the middle child around 10 and the youngest 3 or so.

Kids crying can happen anytime, but they shouldn’t be doing construction at night.

Again, we expected some noise, but not to the extent we get.

Lots of banging all times of the day/night, the kids scream and shout a lot, and I am often woken up by the youngest screaming and crying, which can be anywhere from 11pm-3am.

We also get regular hammering and drilling etc.

Again, they don’t exactly stick to hours that are considerate.

Are there no quiet hours where they live?

Another major disturbance is the large parties they have.

They will have around 15-20+ people over, and we are bombarded by loud voices, over the top laughing, children screaming and banging around, and you can’t seem to escape it in any of the rooms in our house as they seem to spread out.

These go on from any time around 4pm to 1-2am. Summer is obviously one of the worst times, as we want our windows open, but can’t as the noise becomes insufferable!

We have spoken to them on a few occasions, but nothing changes.

At least they had peace and quiet for a while.

Prior to the house being sold, it was a private rental property, and the first renters were an absolute nightmare too.

We went through all the “proper” routes to try and get help to no avail, no help from the landlord, the city council or the police.

We only got our peace back when the family finally moved out and a lovely family moved in who stayed for over 10 years.

Loud neighbors are frustrating, that’s for sure.

Now it feels like we are back to square one with inconsiderate neighbours who don’t seem to really care what issues they are causing.

My mental health is suffering.

I am on medication, but it doesn’t even feel like it helps at all.

I just don’t know what to do anymore. I feel so drained and exhausted all the time, I just don’t know what to do anymore 😞

Record and document everything they do. If it breaks the law, notify the police. Beyond that, there is nothing you can do but endure it.

HOAs can fix this problems, but they come with their own issues.

Document everything, and go to the police. Of course, this only works if they are breaking the law, but it seems they are with the late-night noise.

Beyond that, there isn’t much that can be done if they aren’t willing to move to a new home.
