Is my neighbour hallucinating?
I live in an apartment, and my neighbour is directly below me. She smokes a lot of weed.
Around 1 am last night, I was woken up by her aggressively banging on her ceiling.
I checked my phone, which was on do not disturb, and saw she’d sent me a civil message asking if I could keep it down.
I hadn’t seen it because I was completely fast asleep.
This woman was asleep the whole time.
When I didn’t respond, her messages became increasingly aggressive.
She was claiming there was banging coming from my apartment, and it sounded like the roof was going to come through.
The strange thing is, I was asleep the whole time.
There was nobody else in my apartment, and I wasn’t making any noise whatsoever.
She thinks her neighbor was hallucinating.
She is generally quite antisocial, but I’m genuinely confused by this.
Could she actually be hallucinating or hearing things that aren’t there?
Possibly because of how much weed she smokes? She said she’s going to report me.
OP can’t possibly be blamed for noise she wasn’t making because she was asleep. It is possible that the neighbor was indeed hallucinating, but jumping to conclusions about her behavior or health isn’t necessarily helpful. Perhaps the best solution is to hear both sides and clarify the confusion.
