Long story short, about 2 months ago, I stopped picking up after my husband.

He comes home from work, changes into comfy clothes, and leaves his work clothes on the floor.

They’ve never made it into the hamper.

Our room is always messy because there’s clothes everywhere, and they stay there until I pick them up.

This woman decided to stop picking up her husband’s clothes.

I finally decided I was done cleaning up after him.

He started running out of clean clothes to wear.

I thought that this would be what would make the difference.

And told him that I only wash clothes that are in the hamper.

All this did was lead him to pick up his clothes every Sunday and do a load of laundry, which gets left in the dryer.

He then takes one outfit, yes, they’re wrinkled, from the dryer every day to wear to work.

Her mom suggested doing what they did with her and her siblings when they were younger.

This interrupts my ability to do everyone else’s laundry.

I was complaining about this to my mom.

She suggested I do to my husband what my parents did to me and my siblings when our rooms were messy.

They’d take all of the clutter and put it into a trash bag, and we’d have to earn it back by doing chores.

Now, she plans to hide his clothes in a trash bag and put them in a closet.

Obviously, I’m not going to make my husband do chores to earn his clothes back.

But would I be going too far to pick up his clothes that he leaves all over our room and in the dryer and hide them in a trash bag in his closet?

Part of me thinks this is funny, and another part of me thinks I’d be a jerk for it.

Then, washing them and leaving them in the dryer still created another problem for everyone else.
