It’s always a bummer to hear stories like this one.

Stories about people who have found a great place to live…

But their neighbors are a major problem.

Doh!

And the woman who wrote today’s story is really going through it when it comes to neighbors who are straight-up JERKS.

Take a look at what she had to say about this troubling situation.

Worst next door neighbors.

“My husband and I recently bought a home in a middle-class suburban neighborhood.

It’s honestly a great area and we love our house, but somehow we ended up next to what seems to be the only rental property on the street—and the tenants have been a nightmare.

They moved in about three months ago, and there are apparently 8 people living there (4 adults and 4 children), around 7 cars, and a dog that barks nonstop.

The number of people and cars alone wouldn’t necessarily bother me, but the way they’re affecting our property and the neighborhood has become ridiculous.

Let’s take a look at the list of complaints…

Here’s what we’ve dealt with so far:

Their dog has broken our fence THREE times by getting into our yard.
They frequently block the sidewalk because there are so many cars.
They park multiple cars alongside each other and have started parking directly in front of our house.
Their trash is constantly overflowing. They leave trash bags outside around their driveway and have piles of old things they’re getting rid of sitting along the side of their house.
They’re constantly working on cars in their driveway and have a large canopy set up.
One of their cars actually drove onto our front lawn and broke one of our sprinkler heads.
They constantly walk/step on our grass. This is especially frustrating because we just bought the house and I’ve been putting a lot of time and money into getting our lawn established.

This really doesn’t sound good…

Even after I spoke to them about it, it continues happening.

I did speak with the female tenant about the car driving onto our grass. She apologized and said it was her son who apparently didn’t realize what he was doing. She told me it wouldn’t happen again, but unfortunately, they continue walking across our lawn.

I also found the landlord’s number online and contacted him directly to explain everything that has been happening, including the repeated fence damage from their dog. From what I can tell, the property itself isn’t being maintained very well either.

At this point, I’m honestly frustrated because I feel like we shouldn’t have to constantly worry about our property being damaged.

She doesn’t want to push it…

The one reason I haven’t reported everything to the city yet is because my husband is currently going through the background process for a police department position.

I’m worried that creating a bunch of complaints or conflict with our neighbors could somehow negatively affect his background investigation, so we’ve been hesitant to escalate things.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle this without making things worse.

What would you guys do in this situation?

Would you report the property/code violations, keep documenting everything, go through the landlord, or just continue trying to deal with the tenants directly?”

Ugh…this would be enough to drive anyone crazy.

Maybe calling the police would be the best course of action.

But that could also lead to a whole new batch of problems…

These neighbors are really stepping over the line…
