Even joyful days can take an unexpected turn when communication breaks down over something trivial.

When a graduate and their father neglected to ask for their mother’s fast food order, it led to an extra-large serving of disappointment.

Read on for the full story!

AITA for not getting my mom Wendy’s

Today is my graduation day, which happened about an hour ago.

They outline the events of the day.

Earlier, around 11 AM, my dad and I grabbed food from a restaurant after finishing graduation rehearsal and because it was lunchtime. So, to clarify, I ate at 11 AM, and this incident occurred around 8:30 PM.

After graduation, my mom and dad drove separately, and I was with my dad.

On the way home, they decide to stop by for fast food.

Since I hadn’t eaten since 11 AM, I asked if we could stop at Wendy’s because it was 8:30 PM, and I didn’t want to cook so late.

So, both my dad and I got food.

But when they got home, the trouble started.

When I got home, my mom got upset that we didn’t bring her any food. Just to provide context, she had dinner before leaving for graduation, while I hadn’t eaten for about 9 hours.

AITA for not getting her food?

Sounds like an instance where hindsight is 20/20.

Redditors share their thoughts.

For future reference, this person should know there’s a certain etiquette to these things.

Maybe it’s only fair the dad shares some of the blame here.

On the other hand, misunderstandings are bound to happen in life.

It sounds like emotions were running high this day and the forgotten fast food order was just the final straw.

This story just goes to show that even a small oversight can spark big feelings.
