Neighborhood strolls are supposed to be peaceful, yet a single careless action can turn a sidewalk routine into a showdown.
When one homeowner spotted a rude dog walker refusing to pick up after their dog, what followed left them both stunned and fuming.
Read on for the full story.
AITA For Calling Out Dog Poopers
So, I was walking past my front door and glanced out. I was puzzled to see a couple bending down, looking at something in our yard under our magnolia tree.
But then the homeowner’s worst fears were realized.
I stopped where I was heading and kept watching. Then I noticed a labradoodle sitting on the sidewalk next to the crouching couple.
The man grabbed a magnolia leaf and started to scoop something up. Then he threw what was in the leaf into the ground cover under our tree.
So when the homeowner called them out, they were quick to get defensive.
He started to scoop again, but then I went out and said, “Hey! What are you doing? Stop that!” when I realized it was dog poop he was tossing.
The woman said, “What do you want us to do? We weren’t on our regular route.”
The homeowner continues to try and reason with them — to no avail, of course.
I said, “I want you to take a bag with you when you walk the dog and pick up after it. Or go get a bag and come back to clean it up. It’s the law. I don’t want you to throw your dog poop into my yard.”
Then the woman said, “There’s always a Karen.”
So then the dog walkers started making even more trouble.
Now she’s telling people in our neighborhood that I’m awful.
But the homeowner sees through all of their excuses.
FYI, we have two doggie bag stations in the subdivision, one right around the corner from my yard.
And we sometimes step in the ground cover to rake leaves and pick up pine cones. I really don’t want to step in dog poop when I do that.
So, AITA here?
Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have pets.
What did Reddit think?
Mistakes happen, but this isn’t how you handle them.

“Forgetting a bag” isn’t even a valid excuse here.

Some people just need to be confronted head-on with their nonsense.

This commenter thinks it’s time for revenge!

Following the rules doesn’t always make you popular, but it does make life more orderly and peaceful.
This homeowner had every right to hold their ground.
