Recognizing bad managers to keep their morale up
I work at a hotel, and this new manager came in and took over housekeeping.
He’s really the second manager, but the top manager doesn’t really handle the day to day.
So this new guy mismanaged the department so bad that over half the housekeepers quit.
Including two supervisors who one walked off during shift and the other switched departments.
Yet somehow, he got manager of the quarter.
This man feels bad about being part of this kind of workplace.
The entire department is miserable but instead of getting someone competent, they give him a meaningless award to keep his morale up.
To make him feel like it’s not his fault the department is mess.
The worst part is that this is normal corporate culture in the US.
It’s disgusting, and everyday I make these people money, a little part of my soul died.
Every so often, I get it in my head to go off the grid. Or do you know something to get me out of this hell?
Being part of an organization that doesn’t seem to recognize or address its own problems can be incredibly frustrating. It’s understandable for OP to feel this way because he may not know everything that goes into the company’s decisions. Perhaps looking for a better job can be the next step he should take.
