Imagine staying at a hotel, and you quickly realize the air conditioner isn’t working. What would you do? Would you accept your fate or call the front desk to report the problem?
In this story, one hotel guest was in this situation, but he didn’t tell the front desk until the next morning when it was too late for them to do anything about the situation. However, the angry guest still wanted them to do something. He wanted a refund.

“Then I’ll just call my credit card company and you won’t get any money!”
9am this morning a man comes up, arms crossed, already huffy.
“I’m in room XXX and my air conditioning isn’t working.”
“Ok, I can send my maintenance man up there to look at it.”
“It was out all night and I want compensation.”
She corrects the man.
“Well sir I can’t approve that, I would have to talk to my manager.”
“Well then I won’t pay and you won’t get any money.”
“That’s not true sir we have your card on file”
OP ignores the angry man.
I walk away to go talk to my manager and he yells across the lobby-
“Then I’ll call my credit card company and report it as a fraudulent charge!”
I ignore him and talk to my manager, she’s in a meeting and says she will call him this afternoon.
“So she is in a meeting right now but she says she will look at it and call you back this afternoon”
But the customer ignored the obvious.
“Well if she’s not going to take the time to talk to me then fine, cancel my reservation and I’ll be calling my card company and reporting this as fraudulent.
“Sir did you come down last night and inform anyone that your air conditioning was out?”
“No, what are they going to do? Move my family at midnight?”
Actually, they would’ve been able to fix it.
“Maybe, but most of us know how to troubleshoot the air conditioners and they probably could have gotten it working for you. So you are welcome to call your company but I’m just going to tell you the reality of the situation. You are going to call them, they are going to call us, We are going to tell them that you stayed the entire night and you did not make anyone aware of the issues in a time period in which someone could help you which means we provided the service we promised you. We can’t fix things we don’t know anything about. You are checked out and I look forward to getting that call.”
Sent maintenance, turns out it was unplugged the whole time.
If only he had called! He could’ve had air conditioning all night!

This sounds like a scam. If you have a problem at a hotel, let the hotel know right away. They obviously can’t be responsible for not fixing a problem they didn’t know existed!
