His Roommate Runs the Dryer Day and Night All Summer—So He Wants Him to Start Air-Drying Clothes

If you’ve ever spent five seconds with me, you already know that I run a little hot.
In other words, I like things to be cool…my house, my car, and especially my bedroom at night when it’s time to hit the sack.
But I understand that not everyone is like me!
To each their own…unless we’re occupying the same space.
In today’s story, a man sounded off about his roommate that is making their already hot house even hotter…and he’s tired of it.
Let’s take a look!
Housemate using tumble dryer for 12 hours straight in the summer.
“It’s summer time, it’s boiling hot, and my housemate continues to use the tumble dryer so often, often 5-6 hours straight, but today, he’s been using it since 10 am and now it’s almost 10 pm and it’s still going.
At the beginning, we set out the rule that we reserve the tumble dryer for very thick and heavy things that cannot be hung up, but since a year ago, he’s been throwing that rule out the window secretly.
Jeez…come on, man…
He uses it almost every time after he uses the washing machine (which also takes hours, and multiple days per week).
I’ve kind of subtly asked people (there are 3 of us including myself) to consider hanging the clothes up if possible because it makes the house really warm and I’m concerned about how much electricity is being used.
But he seems to not care.
This sounds like a really bad idea…
He also very often just lets the tumble dryer running while not being in the house. I’m concern about the fire safety as well. I take no joy in telling them off but little things annoy me so much.
He also drips water all over the bathroom floor every time he showers and never cleans after himself. I almost tripped over once because the floor was soaking. I again subtly remind people to please clean after themselves, without naming names, but again was ignored.
The problem is the landlord doesn’t seem to be charging us for electricity. In the contract, we were limited to $150 per month shared between the 3 of us, anything over and we’ll need to pay. But so far, we have not been asked to pay for anything in the past 3 years.
Now what?
So I’m confused but also this makes me have no ground in argue that we should reduce the use of the tumble dryer other than it makes the house really really warm and noisy.
Am I overreacting?
What should I do?
I really don’t like confrontation and I’ve tried my best to be nice and patient but his obsessive use of washing and tumble drying really annoy me.”
