Imagine moving into a house and quickly realizing that your next door neighbor is really nosey. She always wants to know what’s going on, and she will even snoop around your house when you’re not home.

If you knew she wasn’t actually dangerous, would you ignore the situation, or would you confront her about it?

In this story, one woman is in this situation, and she confronts the neighbor. However, the neighbor had such an extreme reaction to being called out that the homeowner is starting to wonder if she should’ve stayed quiet.

Let’s read the whole story.

AITAH for asking my nosey neighbor not to enter my yard when I’m not home?

I (25f) recently moved into a house with my husband (26m). I want to say we are incredibly lucky and grateful for our home, as we are renting to own from a family friend.

Because this house is owned by a family friend who is older (63f) we have been around for a few months before moving in to take care of the house and help pack things up.

They were understanding of their neighbor’s concerns at first.

One of the neighbors across the street is really nosey, like wigs out if she doesn’t recognize a car in our driveway.

At first, we didn’t mind.

The house was vacant for awhile and all of the sudden there are cars and people there she doesn’t know and she wants to make sure the house isn’t getting robbed.

We totally understood.

Yikes! This is getting creepy!

However, slowly she has been getting more and more nosey. It’s as if the only thing she does is watch our house all day.

I mean, this lady will call our landlord to let her know we left a light on in the house.

A few weeks ago I found out from my nextdoor neighbor that she had been snooping around and trying to look in the windows a few weeks before we moved in.

The house has cameras that I just figured out how to check the feed, and sure enough she was there trying to peak in.

She confronted the neighbor.

Immediately I was uncomfortable.

The next time I spoke with her I confronted her. I explained that I appreciate her wanting to look out for us, but we are uncomfortable with her coming onto the property when neither me or my husband are there.

Boy did this blow up bad.

The landlord is on her side.

She called our landlord in tears, recounting her version of it.

Landlord calls me and tells me not to worry about her feelings, and that we were in the right.

AITAH? I wasn’t trying to hurt her feelings my husband and I just like our privacy.

She is ultimately harmless though so I wonder if I pulled a mean move.

She didn’t do anything wrong. The neighbor is the one who messed up and then tried to act like she’s the victim.

Let’s see how Reddit responded to this story.

Exactly! The neighbor is the one who messed up.

I would put up a fence and lock the gate. Make sure the neighbor knows about the security cameras, and before the fence is built, I love the idea of sprinklers soaking the neighbor when she tries to snoop! That would be hilarious!

There is no reason for OP to feel bad. She did nothing wrong. Snooping is not okay.
